Hi everyone. I had the good fortune a few weeks ago to attend a daylong retreat that featured a scholar sharing his research into the difficulties meditators encounter, and how they cope with them. The classic Buddhist framework for examining these obstacles is the Five Hindrances: Desire, Aversion, Sloth and Torpor, Restlessness, and doubt. So when Practice Circle meets again this Sunday, May 14, at 8 pm CDST, we’ll share a meditation and discussion about the hindrances, and about the strategies each of us can use to meet them.

To get us started, here is a link to a handout Gil Fronsdal uses in his teaching about the hindrances: http://insightmeditationcenter.org/articles/FiveHindrancesQuotes-1.pdf
If you haven’t joined us at Practice Circle before, we’d welcome the chance to practice with you. Our new videoconference rooms on Zoom are optimized for mobile devices, and of course there’s no charge to participate. Just follow this link: https://zoom.us/j/968569855

I hope to see you there!
