I am a lifetime “philosopher.” I am a Sephardic Jew, meaning, of the Spanish-Portuguese-Turkish rite. The community follows a type of orthodoxy, yet the membership is free to live according to their conscience. I have tried other groups, but returned to my own. I chose in early adulthood strict orthodoxy, but “life happened.” For a few years now, I have become more of an agnostic.

Last year, I studied various religions, and recently I have focused on Buddhism. Secular Buddhism seems such a natural fit for me- unbelievable.

The past week I came across the caring-erudite-mesmerizing (work of) Doug Smith- I have incorporated his YouTube teachings into my “daily practice.” He is my Secular Buddhist Rabbi- pun intended.

Let us see where this takes me.
